About & Resume

About me

Background

How I got to Communication

My first communication job was a campaign internship in Austin in the spring of 2020. I was cold calling registered voters off a script. I learned faster than I wanted to that the same talking point lands completely differently depending on who picks up. Communication Studies gave me the education for why.

At Alabama I leaned into the persuasion and public address side rhetorical analysis and public speaking, with a PR minor so I'd have somewhere to actually practice what I was learning. Organizational communication was the class that rewired how I see a workplace.

Every job since has sharpened that. At BRAVE Public Relations in Atlanta, I spent my days in news, social, and broadcast monitoring. Now, as a Prevention Facilitator with Child Abuse Prevention Services, I teach the same curriculum to elementary schoolers and high schoolers the hardest audience adjustment I've had to make, and the skill I'm proudest of.
